West Ham United have just submitted an official €35 million (£30 million) bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Matheus Nunes.
That’s according to a report from Portuguese media outlet Record (print edition August 12th, page 8) who claim that the Hammers’ bid comprises of £25 million up front plus a further £5 million in add-ons.

West Ham boss David Moyes desperately needs to strengthen his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium before the summer transfer window slams shut.
The Scot has already brought Flynn Downes to the Hammers from Swansea but the addition of another pacy, powerful, and most importantly proven, central midfielder should be right at the top of his priority list.

Moyes tried to sign Amadou Onana but was beaten to the punch by Everton and it seems as though he’s determined to make up for that…
West Ham make Matheus Nunes bid
The Hammers have submitted a £30 million bid for the Sporting ace according to a report from Record (print edition August 12th, page 8).
Unfortunately for us however, the Portuguese outfit are said to be demanding closer to £42 million for Nunes.
At 23 and 6ft tall, Nunes fits perfectly into the profile of player Moyes needs to add to his ranks.
The Portugal international bagged four goals and four assists in 50 games for Sporting last season (Transfermarkt).
In 33 league outings for Sporting last term, Nunes averaged 1.3 tackles per match. During those appearances, the 23-year-old made 42.4 passes on average per game and recorded an impressive completion rate of 86.2% (Who Scored).
Pep Guardiola recently referred to Nunes as ‘one of the best players in the world’ (Breaking The Lines). He has also been described by The Hard Tackle as a potentially ‘world-class’ player.

He can play as a defensive midfielder, in a more orthodox central role or even as a number 10.
The Portuguese ace possesses exceptional technical ability and is great at receiving the ball in tight spaces. He clearly has the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League as well.
£42 million for the Sporting ace seems like good value to us.
Let’s just hope that West Ham are prepared to stump up the money required to sign Matheus Nunes or at least be ready to meet the Portuguese club halfway.
We would absolutely love to see the 23-year-old sign for the Hammers this summer.
