West Ham are reportedly interested in bringing Marseille midfielder Matteo Guendouzi back to the Premier League in the January transfer window.

That’s according to L’Equipe journalist Mathieu Grégoire who claims that the Hammers are ready to make a ‘big offer to sign the 23-year-old ex-Arsenal man.

Aston Villa allegedly want to sign Guendouzi as well.

I actually wrote a piece just two days ago suggesting that the French midfielder is exactly the kind of player David Moyes should be trying to bring to the London Stadium.

And it seems as though Moyes is indeed interested in the former Gunner…

West Ham in for Matteo Guendouzi

The Marseille man is on the Hammers’ radar according to L’Equipe journalist Mathieu Grégoire.

Grégoire said (as quoted via Goal France):

“Guendouzi, we know that English clubs like Aston Villa or West Ham are ready to draw big offers, but today, we are not there yet.”

I think that the 23-year-old midfielder would be a superb addition to David Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium.

He has been described as an ‘incredibly progressive’ player, and a very good passer of the football (Breaking the Lines).

Foot Mercato claim that Marseille want around €30 million (£26 million) for the 23-year-old former Arsenal midfielder.

That’s great value as far as I’m concerned, and West Ham should be all over it.

Declan Rice will almost certainly leave the London Stadium in the summer, whilst a big upgrade on Tomas Soucek is required urgently.

Guendouzi would be absolutely perfect for West Ham in my opinion. He has energy and stamina to burn and is a really tenacious tackler, as well as being a superb passer of the football.

And if West Ham sign Guendouzi for around £26 million in the January transfer window, I believe that it will be a sign that we are heading in the right direction as a club.
