Midtjyllands Avis have claimed that Frederik Alves is set to join West Ham imminently.
The Hammers were first linked with a 10 million DKK (£1.2 million) move to sign the 21-year-old in October (Danish website Bold).
And, according to a report from Danish media outlet BT, West Ham were very close to completing a deal to sign sign the Silkeborg centre-back last month.
Silkeborg director Kent Madsen suggested that Alves’s transfer to the London Stadium was a mere formality, when speaking to Midtjyllands Avis.
We are still waiting for the official announcement, however.
Midtjyllands Avis have now claimed that Alves has played his last game for Silkeborg and has said goodbye to his teammates ahead of a move to West Ham.
Let’s hope we get this one over the line without any fuss.
The 21-year-old is a real talent, and although nothing is guaranteed, he has all the makings of a top class defender.
Alves, who stands at 6ft 3in tall, has already made 50 senior appearances for Silkeborg (Transfermarkt).
He is a powerful and aerially commanding centre-back. The Danish youngster seems to have all of the attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League. And he would be a very interesting and exciting signing for West Ham.
Judging by the report from Midtjyllands Avis, it seems as though it will be just a matter of time before Alves rocks up at the London Stadium.
And with any luck, he will end up being a great signing for the Hammers.
