According to a report from Sport (Print edition, January 22nd, page 13), West Ham United may well hold the advantage over AC Milan in the race to sign Barcelona ace Junior Firpo.

It is suggested that the Hammers are prepared to sign the 24-year-old on loan for the remainder of the season with an obligation to buy him for around £20 million in the summer.

Milan, meanwhile, just want to sign him on a straight loan.

David Moyes really needs to bolster his left-back department at the London Stadium this month.

West Ham need to sign an established striker first and foremost. Our need for another left-back / left wing-back cannot be underestimated, however.

West Ham to swoop in for Junior Firpo?

The Barcelona ace would be the ideal option for the Hammers.

Sport (Print edition, January 22nd, page 13) claims that David Moyes can bring the 24-year-old to the London Stadium on loan. We would then have an obligation to buy Firpo for £20 million.

Whatever kind of deal we are able to secure for the Spaniard, we absolutely have to get it done.

He has been described as an outstanding player who excels in 1v1’s, both from an attacking and a defensive perspective (Total Football Analysis). He has also been compared to legendary left-backs Roberto Carlos and Marcelo (La Liga Analysis).

At 24, he is at the ideal age to make the step up to the Premier League from La Liga.

Sport described the Barca as a ‘fantastic’ full-back and he clearly has so much potential.

Let’s hope that the West Ham board do everything in their power to bring Firpo to the London Stadium this month.
