According to a report from Spanish media outlet Estadio Deportivo, West Ham, Aston Villa and Tottenham are set for a transfer tussle for Marseille midfield ace Maxime Lopez when the transfer window reopens.
The Hammers really need to bolster their central midfield ranks in the summer. And so do Aston Villa.
But it could be argued that Spurs have plenty of quality options in the middle of the park at the moment.
Estadio Deportivo claims that Tottenham are tracking the 22-year-old Marseille ace nonetheless. But they might have to battle West Ham and Aston Villa for the youngster’s signature.
The French club are willing to sell Lopez for just £10 million in the summer (Daily Star).
The 22-year-old has racked up three assists in 23 league outings for Marseille so far this season (Transfermarkt).
In those 23 appearances, he has averaged 37.7 passes per game, with an incredibly impressive completion rate of 89.5% (Who Scored).
Lopez has also averaged 0.8 key passes and 0.7 dribbles per game during that period (Who Scored).
The 22-year-old Frenchman is very versatile. He can operate in central midfield, in the number 10 role or out on either wing.
Great value for money
For just £10 million, signing the Marseille ace would represent excellent value for money.
And it seems as though West Ham, Aston Villa and Tottenham could be fighting it out for Lopez’s signature very soon.
The 22-year-old seems ideally suited to play for either the Hammers, the Villans or Spurs. So he could have a big decision to make in the summer.
It is claimed that La Liga side Sevilla could join the race as well.
