Report that Everton are in talks for stunning signing of Adrien Rabiot could clear path for West Ham to sign Andre Gomes

Everton have been linked with a stunning move for France star Adrien Rabiot which could see Andre Gomes join West Ham United.

West Ham have been linked with a big money move for Barcelona midfielder Gomes.

The Hammers have had an £18m bid for the Portuguese midfielder rejected by Barcelona (Sky Sports).

Hammers up offer for Gomes

And West Ham have now gone back in with a £20m offer according to reliable insider ExWHUemployee on Twitter, as subsequently reported by The Guardian.

After a difficult start, Gomes impressed in the Premier League last season on loan with Everton.

Sky claims Barcelona are keen to offload Gomes.
West Ham fans fear they will miss out on the Portugal star to Everton given he has already enjoyed a successful spell at Goodison Park.
According to the likes of ExWHUemployee the player feels somewhat indebted to the Toffees after a nightmare spell at Barca.

Everton ‘in talks’ with France star

But a new report from France claims Toffees boss Marco Silva is plotting an even more stunning move for PSG star Adrien Rabiot.

TF1 and Get Football News France report that 24-year-old Rabiot is currently in contract discussions with Everton about a move.

The French international, who has also been chased by Barcelona is out of contract this summer.

Given Rabiot and Gomes play in the same position and role it is unlikely Everton would be able to sign both.

Gomes and Rice the perfect blend?

As a result it would clear the path for West Ham to bring Gomes to East London.
Hammers fans see Gomes as exactly the sort of quality addition the club should be making.
The prospect of pairing him up in midfield with Declan Rice and co has some supporters salivating.
Indeed a report from fellow Hammers site Claret & Hugh suggested last week that if Pellegrini wants Gomes then West Ham will get him his man.
