West Ham United have allegedly forged a tight bond with the representatives of Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

That’s according to a report from Corriere dello Sport (print edition July 16th, page 24) who claim that the contact between the Hammers and Scamacca’s agents could now lead to a £34 million (plus add-ons) deal being concluded for the 23-year-old striker.

READ…Opinion: West Ham boss David Moyes has just made an absolutely crazy decision

West Ham manager David Moyes has been desperate to bring a top-class striker to the London Stadium for 18 months now.

Scamacca is someone who has seemingly caught the Scot’s eye and the Italian is allegedly keen to join the Hammers this summer.

Michail Antonio has been West Ham’s only centre-forward since Sebastien Haller was sold to Ajax back in January 2021. And let’s be real here, Antonio is by no means a natural number nine.

It seems as though the Hammers could be on verge of bringing in some real competition for the 32-year-old this summer though…

West Ham forge tight bound with agents of Gianluca Scamacca

Corriere dello Sport (print edition July 16th, page 24) reckon that the Hammers have a ‘direct thread’ with the 23-year-old’s representatives.

And the Italian publication suggests that this relationship ‘should be noted’.

Moyes should be going all out to get this one done asap, regardless of whether we sign Armando Broja from Chelsea or not.

The Italy international would be a truly outstanding addition to David Moyes’s ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

The 23-year-old is an absolute unit. He stands at 6ft 5in tall but don’t let that fool you, he’s so much more than a bog-standard target man.

Sempre Inter recently described the towering striker as an ‘unbelievable’ player.

Scamacca possesses exceptional technique and has one of the most ferocious shots in the game at his disposal.

The 23-year-old bagged 16 goals in 36 Serie A appearances for Sassuolo this season (Transfermarkt). He really is a very good all-round striker.

The Italian should suit our playing style perfectly.

And if West Ham do sign Gianluca Scamacca this summer, we will undoubtedly be ready to compete on all fronts next season.
