Selling Aji Alese to Sunderland seems like an absolutely crazy decision from West Ham United manager David Moyes.
The 21-year-old centre-back left the Hammers to join Sunderland for a fee believed to be around £500k (ExWHUemployee).

West Ham have also included a 25% sell on fee in the deal and will be paid extras when certain milestones are reached (ExWHUemployee).
Alese is a real up and coming young defender.

The news broke today that Alese had joined Sunderland and it was a real shock. We believe that West Ham and Moyes may well have got this one very wrong indeed…
David Moyes has made a crazy decision
We believe that the Scot might live to regret selling Alese.
Loaning out the 21-year-old would have made perfect sense. Giving up on him so soon seems ever so strange.
The East London-born centre-back was head and shoulders above most players for West Ham at under-23 level last season.
Alese is incredibly strong in the air yet he is very quick along the ground as well.

Standing at 6ft 4in tall, Alese cuts a really imposing figure. The 21-year-old didn’t put a foot wrong at youth level for West Ham last season.
The challenge for him now will be to replicate the form that he showed for the under-23s with Sunderland.
The fact that we have sold him for such a nominal fee makes this one a truly crazy decision from David Moyes.
Let’s just hope that the Scot isn’t made to regret it.
