The Hammers were first linked with a move to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur play-maker back on December 7th when Eurosport claimed David Moyes wanted to bring the 28-year-old to the London Stadium.

At the time, the links seemed tenuous at best.

Inter allegedly want around £12 million for Christian Eriksen (ESPN). Everyone and their dog knows West Ham are skint. The Danish star will also demand around £120k-a-week according to Calcio Mercato.

Things have taken somewhat of a twist today, however. Gazzetta dello Sport (Print edition, December 22nd, pages 2 and 3) claims that Inter are now willing to send Eriksen out on loan.

West Ham are said to be closely watching his situation with a view to making a January move.

If the Dane is willing to lower his wage demands, and Inter cover some of his salary, it’s not completely outside the realms of reality that the Hammers could sign him in January.

And let’s have it right – Eriksen would be an outstanding addition for West Ham.

We have a very strong midfield in the form of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek. Sometimes we do lack a little bit of creativity and guile, however.

And the 28-year-old play-maker would solve that particular problem in an instant.

Eriksen has really struggled since joining Inter but the Dane’s time with Tottenham is evidence of his undoubted quality.

The midfielder racked up 69 goals and 89 assists in 305 games for Spurs (Transfermarkt).

If West Ham could get Eriksen on loan for the rest of the season with an option to buy perhaps, it would be a truly sensational deal for us.

And the fact that Inter are reportedly willing to sanction his exit from the San Siro on a loan basis now increases our chances of bringing him to east London.
