Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly look set to win the race to sign long-term West Ham United transfer target Paul Onuachu.

That’s according to a report from TuttoMercatoWeb who claim that the Bundesliga club are closing in the signing of the 28-year-old striker in the January transfer window.

Buli News recently claimed that Onuachu is valued at around €22 million (£19 million) by Genk.

Hammers boss David Moyes has been linked with a move to sign the 16-capped Nigeria international for more than 18 months now.

And now it seems as though the Scot could be set to officially miss out on the giant striker…

TMW reckon that the Nigerian hitman could be set to swap Genk for Eintracht Frankfurt.

West Ham developed somewhat of a rivalry with the German side last season after our two-legged Europa League semi-final defeat.

And now we could lose out to them again – this time on a player.

The Genk hitman was on fire last season racking up 21 goals. He has a fairly impressive career record as well with 162 goals in 328 appearances to his name (Transfermarkt).

He has 15 goals to his name this season as well.

I actually think that Paul Onuachu would have been a useful addition to the West Ham squad. Standing at 6ft 7in tall, he would have provided David Moyes with a completely unique option that he doesn’t currently possess.

That ship seems to have sailed though. And in all fairness, there are plenty of better options out there for the Hammers anyway.
