According to a report from AS (November 19th, page 9), Mariano Diaz will have the final say on whether he stays at Real Madrid or leaves in January amidst links with West Ham.

The Daily Mail claims that Hammers boss David Moyes wants to bring the 27-year-old striker to the London Stadium in January.

West Ham desperately need to bolster their centre-forward ranks with more competition and cover required for Michail Antonio and Sebastien Haller.

And it seems as though Real Madrid hitman Mariano could be the man for the job.

AS (November 19th, page 9) suggest that Zinedine Zidane will leave it up to the player whether he wants to stay at the Santiago Bernabeu or leave in January.

The Daily Mail claimed earlier this week that a move to West Ham would appeal to the 27-year-old Dominican.

So it seems as though we are fairly well placed to sign Mariano. Especially if he isn’t guaranteed regular playing time under Zidane at Real Madrid.

Good addition?

The 27-year-old has struggled since making his £23 million (The Sun) return to the Spanish capital in the summer of 2018. He proved during his time with Lyon that he has what it takes to succeed at the highest level, however. The Dominican ace racked up 21 goals in 45 games for the French club.

If West Ham can pick Mariano up for a decent fee in January, or even on loan with an option to buy, it would be excellent business for us.

Only time will tell whether the Hammers owners are ready to offer the Madrid ace a tempting enough package, however.
