West Ham United are eyeing up a move to sign Antonin Barak in January according to a report from The Athletic.

It is alleged that the Hammers’ chances of signing Jesse Lingard in the January transfer window are decreasing with every week that passes.
And as a result, West Ham boss David Moyes has identified Barak as an alternative target to the 29-year-old Manchester United ace.
West Ham have been completely toothless in the final third over the past month or so, aside from our win against Chelsea on December 4th.

Without Jesse Lingard, we lack the movement, pace and incisiveness that we did last season. If we can’t bring him back to the London Stadium though, Moyes has got to find another way of getting us firing again. And it seems as though the Scot has someone in particular in mind for the job.
West Ham eyeing January Barak swoop
The Athletic claims that the Czech Republic international is on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the January transfer window.
Barak racked up seven goals and four assists in 36 games for Hellas Verona last season. This term, the 27-year-old has bagged five goals and three assists in 16 games (Transfermarkt).
Decent numbers indeed. Barak could be available for around £17 million according to Calcio Hellas.

The Czech ace would be a decent acquisition for West Ham.
It must be said though…surely Moyes should be setting his sights higher than the Hellas Verona man. He’s not on the same level as Jesse Lingard and if we are to make real progress over the next couple of years, Moyes should be targeting a younger, more dynamic and energetic attacking midfield signing.
£17 million for Barak seems to be a tad steep as well, considering the fact that he has no experience of playing in the Premier League.
There is certainly better value to be had in the market in January. There are better quality players available as well. Nantes ace Ludovic Blas would be my personal choice.
He’d certainly be a better signing than Barak.
