West Ham United have reportedly made a loan offer for Juventus midfielder Denis Zakaria.

According to a report from Corriere dello Sport (print edition July 3rd, page 4), Juventus are weighing up whether or not to accept a loan offer from West Ham for Denis Zakaria.

It is suggested that Juve want to include an obligation to buy clause into the deal, and have sent officials to London for talks.

It was claimed that West Ham were closing in on the signing of Zakaria last week.

And with Declan Rice set to leave the London Stadium, it would be no surprise to see Hammers boss David Moyes bring the Swiss midfielder to the club this summer…

Corriere dello Sport reckon that the Hammers are waiting to hear whether of not their loan offer for the former Chelsea man will be accepted.

However, it is believed that the Italian giants would prefer some sort of obligation to buy included.

Zakaria is a defensive midfielder by trade but he can play in the centre-back position as well if need be.

He’s apparently available for around £15.4 million (Calciomercato) – and that versatility makes the reported fee even more of a bargain as far as I’m concerned.

The Swiss international is incredibly dynamic and energetic. He is a tenacious tackler and has the kind of physicality needed to succeed in the Premier League.

If Denis Zakaria joins West Ham and gets a regular run of games, I’m sure we’ll see the best of him in East London.

Former BSC Young Boys coach Uli Forte labelled him as an incredible player with exceptional technical ability (Mondo Napoli).

Whether Juventus are prepared to let him leave on loan this summer remains to be see though. And more to the point, will West Ham be prepared to include an obligation to buy clause into the deal? I doubt that very much, and suspect that a loan with an option to buy might be the eventual outcome.
