According to a report from the Daily Star, David Moyes is desperate to keep hold of West Ham ace Declan Rice.

The Star suggest that the Hammers are preparing a new £120k-a-week contract for the 21-year-old. It is alleged that Rice currently earns £60k-a-week at the London Stadium.

So the chance to double his money will be incredibly hard to resit for the England international.

He has been heavily linked with a move across London over the past few months, however.

The Sun claimed that Chelsea were ready to splash out £80 million on Rice during the summer transfer window.

It is absolutely vital that West Ham keep hold of their star man. And hopefully the 21-year-old ends up signing a new deal that will keep him in east London for the foreseeable future.

The Daily Star claims that David Moyes really doesn’t want Rice to leave the Hammers. And it is little wonder why.

In 105 Premier League appearances for West Ham, the 21-year-old has racked up 263 tackles, 171 interceptions, 183 clearances and 714 ball recoveries. He has also won 510 out of 886 individual duels as well as 144 out of 262 aerial battles (premierleague.com).

The defensive midfielder is so important to the manner in which West Ham play.

Let’s just hope that Rice stays in east London for long enough to eventually be classed as a Hammers legend.
