Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to sign a top-class defensive midfielder, with Declan Rice expected to leave the London Stadium this summer.

And it seems as though the Scot could go shopping from one of the clubs relegated from the Premier League last season…

West Ham want to sign Tyler Adams from Leeds

The Daily Mail reckon that the Hammers are big fans of the Whites midfielder.

West Ham apparently could face competition for Adams’ signature from the likes of Brighton, Aston Villa, Everton and Nottingham Forest.

Leeds United News have claimed that the the American has a £30 million release clause inserted into his current contract at Elland Road.

He has been described as a tenacious tackling, superb all-round midfielder by well-known commentator Sam Matterface (Gameday Podcast, 06:39, 26 November).

In 24 Premier League outings for Leeds last season, Adams averaged 3.7 tackles, 1.5 interceptions and one clearance per game. During those appearances, the 24-year-old made 55.3 passes on average per match and recorded a completion rate of 82.4% (Who Scored).

The United States international has energy, dynamism and athleticism in abundance. Tyler Adams has pace and power to burn and would be the ideal defensive midfield addition for West Ham this summer.

I’m not saying that the Leeds star is as good as Rice, because he isn’t. However, if Moyes signed Adams and someone else like Ibrahim Sangare or Sofyan Amrabat, then we’ll be in business heading into the new season.
