Coventry City are reportedly hoping that West Ham United come in and make a bid for Viktor Gyokeres.

According to Record (print edition June 24th, page 12), Sporting have lodged a bid totalling €21 million (£18 million) including add-ons for Viktor Gyokeres but Coventry want West Ham to come in for him in order to kick off a bidding war for the 25-year-old.

It was recently claimed that the East London outfit are ready to push on with their intent to sign the Sweden international.

Hammers manager David Moyes is clearly on the hunt for a new centre-forward with Michail Antonio, Danny Ings and Gianluca Scamacca all facing uncertain futures at the London Stadium.

It’s no surprise that the Scot might want to sign Gyokeres – he’s perfect for his system after all. And it seems as though Coventry are now just waiting for West Ham to make an offer for him…

Record claim that the Championship side are hoping that the Hammers come in with a concrete offer for the Swede, in order to get more money than the £18 million including bonuses that Sporting are offering.

I truly believe that Viktor Gyokeres would be the perfect signing for West Ham this summer.

The Coventry ace is a willing runner, and is superb at stretching the opposition’s backline by making tireless runs into the channels – something that David Moyes obviously absolutely loves – just look at his dependance on Antonio.

The Coventry forward is equally as strong with both feet and is very good at playing with his back to goal, holding up the ball and turning defenders. He has been labelled as a ‘lethal’ striker by TEAMtalk. Meanwhile, The Analyst label him as a’exceptional’.

The 25-year-old bagged 22 goals and 12 assists in 50 appearances for the Sky Blues this season (Transfermarkt).

He has 43 goals and 17 assists in 116 career games for Coventry under his belt (Transfermarkt).

I believe that Viktor Gyokeres would be a superb addition for West Ham. Hopefully the board make an offer for him soon.
