West Ham are eyeing up a move to sign Conor Gallagher from Chelsea, as a possible alternative to Southampton ace James Ward-Prowse.
According to a report from the Evening Standard, Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher is on the radar of West Ham, whilst James Ward-Prowse continues to be heavily linked.
Central midfield is clearly an area where Hammers boss David Moyes wants to strengthen in the summer transfer window, with Declan Rice likely to depart.

Ward-Prowse is said to be a target for the Scot, whilst Gallagher has been linked as well.
And it seems as though the latter will be on Moyes’s wish-list if the Southampton ace proves to be unattainable…
West Ham eyeing Conor Gallagher as James Ward-Prowse alternative
The 23-year-old Blues ace is allegedly on the Hammers’ radar ahead of the summer transfer window.
Now, I believe Gallagher would be a much better signing for West Ham than Ward-Prowse would be, especially in the long-run.
The Southampton star has an exceptional set-piece delivery but aside from that, is he really the player we need? I don’t believe so.

Gallagher has energy and dynamism in abundance. He can play in central midfield as well as in a more attacking role.
The Chelsea ace is a really intelligent footballer and possesses very impressive technique. He doesn’t mind getting stuck in either, and relishes the physical battle with the opposition.
I think that if West Ham sign Conor Gallagher instead of James Ward-Prowse, we’ll be in a much better position going forward. He’s five years younger than the Saints midfielder as well.
Hopefully David Moyes is thinking along similar lines ahead of the summer transfer window opening.
