West Ham are ready to make a bid for Barcelona striker Martin Braithwaite according to a report from Sport (Print edition, December 27th, page 4).

Hammers boss David Moyes will certainly be on the look out for a new striker in January.
The Scot is clearly not a fan of Sebastien Haller. Meanwhile, Michail Antonio’s hamstring problems will be a real concern for Moyes.

Funds are tight at the London Stadium, however. So David Moyes will have to be thrifty in his player recruitment.
Sport (Print edition, December 27th, page 4) claims that West Ham are ‘ready to bid’ for Barca hitman Martin Braithwaite.
Marca claimed recently that Barcelona had transfer listed the Denmark international.
And the Catalan giants allegedly want somwhere around £16 million for the 29-year-old forward (Mundo Deportivo).

West Ham can do better than Martin Braithwaite
The Dane would hardly be an inspiring addition for the Hammers.
Stats
The 46-capped Denmark international has scored just six goals in 26 games for Barcelona since moving to the Camp Nou from Leganes in January (Transfermarkt).
The transfer was a highly controversial one at the time. And it has proven to be pretty much a waste of time for everyone involved.
Braithwaite has been far from impressive, and it is hard to understand why West Ham would want to sign him. Even if we picked him up for a reduced fee, it still wouldn’t make much sense. Especially when considering how much Braithwaite struggled in England during his ill-fated spell with Middlesbrough.
This should be one that we avoid at all costs. There are better, and more cost effective, options out there for us.
