The Sky Sports pundit suggested that he thought the 33-year-old’s inclusion against Brighton at the London Stadium today was a little bit unnecessary (Sunday December 27th, 14:16).
Mark Noble has been a great servant for the Hammers. But it is clear to see that he is well past his best.

David Moyes chose to start Mark Noble against Chelsea on Monday night. That was a forgivable mistake by the Scot.
Gary Neville shocked by inclusion of Mark Noble
But to start Mark Noble again at home to Brighton is unforgivable. The club captain should be kept at the club in some kind of a capacity. He shouldn’t be anywhere near our starting XI anymore, however.
Gary Neville shared his disbelief that the midfielder was given the nod for today’s game against Brighton, when speaking on Sky Sports (Sunday December 27th, 14:16):

“I have to say, I watched the game on Monday Night Football and I thought his inclusion was a little bit unnecessary. Even today looking at it, nothing against Mark Noble, he’s been a fantastic player but it just looks like there could have been another attacking player.”
Neville got that spot on. Selecting Mark Noble against Brighton at home was an open invitation for the visitors to come on to us.
It’s not Noble’s fault. This one is on David Moyes. For someone with so much experience, it is truly baffling that he thought the best way to tackle Brighton was with the line-up that he named.
And we deservedly paid the price.
