The 23-year-old centre-back joined the Hammers from Toulouse in the summer of 2018 for around £25 million (The Express).

Issa Diop really impressed during his debut campaign in the Premier League.

The Frenchman, who earns £60,000 per week (Metro), has regressed badly over the past 12 months, however.

Diop now finds himself behind the likes of Angelo Ogbonna, Fabian Balbuena and even Craig Dawson in the centre-back pecking order at the London Stadium.

Issa Diop continues to warm the bench

The 23-year-old has a lot of work to do if he is to convince West Ham boss David Moyes that he has what it takes to be a first-team regular for the east London outfit.

It seems as though Issa Diop’s days with the Hammers could be numbered.

According to a report from L’Equipe (Print edition, Saturday January 2nd, page 6) Ligue 1 outfit Nice are interested in bringing the West Ham centre-back to the French Riviera.

It is suggested that Diop is not a priority target for Nice, however.

It must be an incredibly frustrating time for Diop at the moment. The 23-year-old can’t prove to anyone that he deserves to be playing whilst he is just warming the bench.

Perhaps a loan move to Nice would be the ideal solution for all parties involved? Whatever happens, Issa Diop needs to play. And he is just not getting enough game-time with West Ham. It’s as simple as that.
