Report claiming West Ham want Sevilla ace Yassine Bounou in January may mean David Moyes isn't sold on £10m man

West Ham United allegedly want to sign Sevilla goalkeeper Yassine Bounou, also known as Bono, in the January transfer window.

That’s according to a report from Spanish publication Fichajes who claim that the Hammers could face competition from Leeds for the 31-year-old’s signature in January.

West Ham manager David Moyes is thought to be on the look-out for goalkeeping reinforcements at the London Stadium.

Lukasz Fabianski probably has only this season left, as does Darren Randolph, whilst the young goalkeepers coming through the ranks aren’t yet ready to play regular Premier League football.

Moyes does have Areola at his disposal of course, but maybe he’s just not 100% sold on the Frenchman.

The 29-year-old has been a permanent fixture on the bench for Premier League games since he moved to the London Stadium after all.

West Ham signing Yassine Bounou would be bad news for Areola

Fichajes reckon that West Ham want to sign the Sevilla ace and we think that if we do, it could very well be the end of the road for the French World Cup winner at the London Stadium.

Moyes brought the 29-year-old stopper to the London Stadium on a season long loan last summer, before making his move a permanent one for around £10 million this summer (The Daily Mail).

We think that Areola is actually head and shoulders above Fabianski. Moyes clearly doesn’t see it that way though, and we’re not quite sure why.

The Scot’s reluctance to start the Frenchman regularly in the Premier League seems really strange to us.

The former Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper is an exceptional shot-stopper and he is incredibly good with the ball at his feet as well.

We think that Areola should be starting every single week for the Hammers, and that shouldn’t even be a debate.

Should West Ham make a move to sign Yassine Bounou in January though, the Frenchman may well be on his way out of the London Stadium in my opinion.
