In fact, the journo has suggested that the Toffees and the Hammers have already made approaches to the 25-capped Serbia international’s agent.

Signing Maksimovic on a free transfer this summer would be a very smart move from West Ham.

Everton’s alleged interest in the 29-year-old will undoubtedly be a problem for the East London club, however.

Maksimovic is a grizzly, seasoned defender. He seems to be ideally suited to the robust and intense nature of the Premier League.

The Serbian defender has been in fine form for Napoli this season.

In 16 Serie A outings this term, Maksimovic has averaged 1.1 tackles, 1.3 interceptions and 2.8 clearances per game. He has also won an average of 1.9 aerial duals per match. The centre-back averages 54.8 passes per game with a supremely impressive completion rate of 92.5% (Who Scored).

Toffees boss Carlo Ancelotti wants to bring him to Goodison Park this summer according to Nicolo Schira:

Much will depend on which team finishes higher in the Premier League table this season.

If West Ham qualify for Europe and Everton don’t, we will surely be in a great position to sign Maksimovic. If it’s the other way around, however, the outlook will be bleak for the Hammers.
