Path now clear for West Ham to sign Ludovic Ajorque after president speaks out

The path is allegedly now clear for West Ham United to sign Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque in the summer transfer window.

The Ligue 1 outfit’s president Marc Keller has admitted that he will be open to selling the 6ft 6in hitman, when speaking to Dernieres Nouvelles d’Alsace, should a ‘big offer’ come in for his services.

Hammers manager David Moyes is in desperate need of bolstering his centre-forward ranks at the London Stadium this summer.

According to FootMercato, Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque is a summer transfer target for the East London outfit.

West Ham need to bring in more quality competition for Michail Antonio in order to get the best out of the 32-year-old next season.

And it seems as though Moyes may now have a free run at signing one striker in particular…

West Ham could sign Ajorque

Strasbourg president Marc Keller spoke exclusively to Dernieres Nouvelles d’Alsace and suggested that the 28-year-old striker could be sold if the right offer comers in this summer:

“We are very happy with him as a player and as a person. He has always behaved in an exemplary manner. But after all this time, he may be questioning whether he needs a new challenge. We hope to keep him. But if he wants to leave and if a big offer is formulated, we will talk about it. If they (our key players) are to leave, they’ll be replaced. It’s part of the life of a club.”

Ajorque would be a decent addition for West Ham in my opinion.

Standing at 6ft 6in tall, he would be an obvious threat from set-pieces and could act as a great focal point to our attacking play.

The Frenchman bagged 12 goals and eight assists in 36 Ligue 1 games for Strasbourg this season as well, so he’s clearly pretty good in front of goal (Transfermarkt).

He could be signed for around €15 million (£12.5 million) according to Get Football News France.

That sounds like decent value to us. Remember though, Ajorque is totally unproven in the Premier League. We would like David Moyes to sign an elite striker this summer and whilst the Strasbourg ace is very good, he doesn’t fit into the world-class bracket.

West Ham signing Ajorque to supplement a top-class striker signing would be a wise move, however.
