And it has been a constant battle to return to full fitness for Holland.

The problem for the 22-year-old is that now he has returned to his peak physically, he may find regular game-time hard to come by under David Moyes at the London Stadium.

The Scot has Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals competing for the wide left spot whilst Jarrod Bowen and Andriy Yarmolenko are battling it out on the right hand side.

So perhaps Holland should be loaned out in January. A move to the Championship, or even League One, could do wonders for the former Everton youngster.

The West Ham starlet is at a crossroads. He is approaching a crucial point of his career where he will either make the grade with the Hammers or be moved on to another club.

Holland’s talent is undeniable. Declan Rice is a huge fan. The 21-year-old Hammer raved about his teammate on Twitter last year.

But at 22, he really needs to be playing regular football. And under-23 games just won’t cut the mustard.

If David Moyes truly has plans for the winger, he needs to either include him in his match-day squads between now and the end of the season or send him out on loan.

The second option would be preferable, and it would surely be appealing to Holland. The 22-year-old needs to prove himself. And he is not going to do that by playing youth football or warming the bench for the senior side.

A loan move away would be the ideal outcome for all parties involved.
