The 18-year-old Hammers right-back is very highly rated at the London Stadium.
He burst onto the scene earlier this year, making two appearances for West Ham’s senior side in the Carabao Cup. And he didn’t let anyone down.

In fact, Ashby really impressed with his high energy and stamina levels and 100 per cent commitment to the cause.
The teenager has made 34 combined appearances for the Hammers’ under-18’s and under-23’s. He has racked up two goals and four assists in the process (Transfermarkt).

Ashby is undoubtedly a very exciting talent. He had a great future ahead of him. And the 18-year-old would have been thinking that he may well receive some unexpected game time with West Ham this season.
So let’s all hope that the injury he picked up whilst on international duty is not serious.
Ashby will undoubtedly be disappointed to have missed out on representing his country. Taking the precaution of pulling out, however, is the right decision. The West Ham starlet would have made a big mistake by playing through the pain.
The young Scot could have made any potential injury so much worse by doing just that.
