West Ham United surely have no chance of beating Premier League giants Liverpool to the signing of Matheus Nunes this summer.
Reports broke earlier today that David Moyes wants to bring the 23-year-old Liverpool target to the London Stadium.

Record (print edition August 12th, page 8) claimed that the Hammers actually made a £30 million bid for Nunes – a player Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to sign, according to Correio da Manha (print edition July 22nd, page 11).
It seems as though West Ham never stood a chance though.

David Moyes has even admitted today that the Portuguese midfielder has rejected the chance to move to the London Stadium this summer (Football.London).
It really does seem like mission impossible for the Hammers…
West Ham surely don’t stand a chance of signing Matheus Nunes ahead of Liverpool
We have to say, the Portuguese midfielder is a really special player.
He bagged four goals and four assists in 50 games for Sporting last season (Transfermarkt).
In 33 league outings for Sporting last term, Nunes averaged 1.3 tackles per match. During those appearances, the 23-year-old made 42.4 passes on average per game and recorded an impressive completion rate of 86.2% (Who Scored).
Pep Guardiola recently referred to Nunes as ‘one of the best players in the world’ (Breaking The Lines). He has also been described by The Hard Tackle as a potentially ‘world-class’ player.

He can play as a defensive midfielder, in a more orthodox central role or even as a number 10.
The Portuguese ace possesses exceptional technical ability and is great at receiving the ball in tight spaces. He clearly has the physical attributes needed to succeed in the Premier League as well.
Sporting allegedly want around £42 million for the 23-year-old according to Record (print edition August 12th, page 8). That seems like good value to us.
We think that there is no chance West Ham will sign Matheus Nunes ahead of Liverpool this summer unfortunately. Or any time in the future for that matter.
