Opinion: There's absolutely no chance Tottenham will sell 24-year-old to West Ham

There’s absolutely no chance Tottenham will sell 24-year-old to West Ham in the summer transfer window.

News broke yesterday that the Hammers are keen to sign Tottenham centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers in the summer.

TEAMtalk claims that David Moyes wants to bring the 24-year-old Spurs defender to the London Stadium before the start of next season.

Carter-Vickers is currently on loan with Celtic and he has really impressed at Parkhead.

With West Ham so desperate for a tall, physically imposing centre-half, it is no surprise that we would perhaps look at Tottenham ace Carter-Vickers.

Let’s be real here though, the Hammers signing the 24-year-old American in the summer is highly unlikely isn’t it.

There’s absolutely no chance Tottenham will sell 24-year-old to West Ham

First and foremost, Spurs and the Hammers rarely do business with each other. A player hasn’t been transferred from one club to the other since Scott Parker left West Ham for Tottenham back in 2011.

Secondly, Celtic have an option to buy Carter-Vickers for around £10 million in the summer according to TEAMtalk.

In 22 Scottish Premiership appearances for the Hoops, the 24-year-old has averaged 0.9 tackles, 1.3 interceptions, 4.7 clearances and 4.5 successful aerial duels per game (Who Scored).

He has also scored two goals. Carter-Vickers is a very good passer of the football as well. In 22 league games this term, the American has made 88.5 passes per game on average and has recorded an incredibly impressive completion rate of 89.4% (Who Scored).

Considering the fact that the centre-back has been such a big hit with the Glasgow giants, surely they will take up their option to buy him in the summer.

And finally, there are four other clubs keen on signing Carter-Vickers – Leicester, Wolves, Burnley and Watford. So if Celtic don’t take up their option, Tottenham will surely do business with one of those four teams rather than West Ham.

Bear in mind that West Ham are a genuine and direct rival to Tottenham now as well.

David Moyes absolutely has to bolster his centre-back options in the summer.

Considering Carter-Vickers’ fine form over the past six months or so, he would have been a very useful option for the Hammers.

We just can’t see any reason why Tottenham would even contemplate selling the United States international to West Ham in the summer though.

There would be absolutely no need for them to do it and with so many other clubs in the race for the 24-year-old’s signature, Moyes had better start looking elsewhere.
