West Ham boss David Moyes should consider bringing Chelsea ace Emerson Palmieri to the London Stadium in January.

The Hammers manager needs to address certain squad deficiencies over the course of the next few transfer windows.

One position in particular that is in need of urgent attention is the left wing-back role.

Arthur Masuaku has really impressed this season. The prospect of the 27-year-old suffering an injury is a real worry for the West Ham fans, however.

Ben Johnson could deputise for the Democratic Republic of Congo international, but he is probably not quite ready for regular Premier League action.

And 30-year-old Aaron Cresswell hasn’t got the energy or stamina needed to perform the left wing-back duties.

Bearing all of that in mind, West Ham should attempt to sign Chelsea star Emerson Palmieri in January.

Tutto Mercato Web claims that the 11-capped Italy international is on the radar of Serie A outfit Napoli, with Frank Lampard willing to sanction his exit from Stamford Bridge.

And the Hammers should do everything they can to try and pip the Italian giants to Emerson’s signature.

The 26-year-old joined the Blues from AS Roma in January 2018 for around £20 million (ESPN).

Stats

Emerson has made 59 appearances for Chelsea, racking up five assists and one goal in the process (Transfermarkt).

In 15 Premier League outings last season, the Italian averaged 1.5 tackles, 1.2 interceptions and 0.9 clearances per game. He also averaged 0.9 dribbles and 1.3 key passes per game during those appearances (Who Scored).

The Chelsea ace is an attacking wing-back in every sense and would be ideally suited to that role at West Ham.

The 26-year-old would provide very strong competition for Masuaku. And signing him in January would be a very wise move from David Moyes.
