There has been a development on West Ham United transfer target Charlie Cresswell.
Cresswell has long been linked with a move to West Ham United as the club look to answer their defensive crisis.
The defender came through the ranks at Leeds and joined Toulouse last summer, while also forming part of the England U21s side who have won consecutive European Championships.
Charlie Cresswell will be West Ham’s best defender…😍
How can Nuno convince him to join?
Indeed, West Ham are in constant talks with Cresswell’s agents over the prospect of a move, having been interested in signing him last summer too.
Now, it seems as if intermediaries close to the player are keen on a Premier League move.
Newcastle United decide against signing Charlie Cresswell
According to The Chronicle, Newcastle were offered a deal to sign Cresswell at the start of the January window.
An intermediary close to the potential deal is believed to have offered the Magpies the chance to sign the 23-year-old.
However, Eddie Howe’s side have not pursued that offer.
That could work in West Ham’s favour, should they focus their attention on signing him.

Fullkrug up top? Kilman? What about Kalvin Phillips?
Why Charlie Cresswell would be an ideal West Ham signing
Clearly, there are some differences to Ligue 1 and the Premier League.
Still, Cresswell generally dominates aerially.
On average, he wins 3.79 aerial duels per game. The highest in the West Ham squad currently stands at 2.71 over the same period through Max Kilman.

That alone could give Nuno Espirito Santo’s side much more presence in both boxes. It might not stem the tide completely, but it might help at least.
He is of the age profile that could develop and has previously been praised for his leadership skills.
It’s a logical addition to the ranks, even if he wouldn’t be arriving in ideal circumstances.
To suggest that signing Cresswell would instantly fix every problem would be foolish. He might help make a start, however.
West Ham continue to track Cresswell and it does seem as if a move to England is on the cards, given he was offered to Newcastle.
