And the Blues’ alleged interest in the lethal 25-year-old hitman could be a real problem for the Hammers.
David Moyes desperately needs to bring a top class striker to the London Stadium this summer.
Brentford hitman Ivan Toney fits the bill perfectly. He has been in absolutely sensational form this season.
West Ham dealt blow as Chelsea reportedly join race for Ivan Toney
The Sun reckons that Blues boss Thomas Tuchel is keen to bring the 25-year-old Bees ace to Stamford Bridge.
That will obviously make the Hammers’ task of signing Toney a lot harder.
The Brentford ace is exactly the kind of striker West Ham should be looking at this summer.
The 25-year-old has been described as ‘very special’ by Peterborough’s DOF Barry Fry.
He has been absolutely on fire this season for the Bees with 30 goals and 10 assists in 44 league games to his name so far (Transfermarkt).
Toney has bundles of power and pace. He is very mobile and possesses great movement.
The Sun claims that he is available for around £35 million this summer. That seems like a lot of cash but he is more than worth it.
With Chelsea now chasing Toney’s signature, however, West Ham will definitely have our work cut-out this summer, if we are to bring him to the London Stadium.
