Marseille have dropped their asking price for West Ham target Duje Caleta-Car down to £15 million according to a report from The Daily Mail.
Hammers boss David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central midfield ranks before the January transfer window slams shut.
Angelo Ogbonna is out injured for the entire season and whilst Kurt Zouma has returned to action, Issa Diop has proven that he is nowhere near good enough to be regarded as a sufficient backup option.
West Ham are currently fifth in the Premier League table. Despite the fact that all the teams around the Hammers in the table have games in hand over us, we still have a chance of finishing inside the top four.
However, should Moyes fail to bring any new additions to the London Stadium before the window closes, the East London outfit will have no chance of finishing inside the top six finish, let alone the top four.
And it now seems as though we could have a great chance of getting a deal done for one of Moyes’s alleged key targets…
Marseille slightly change stance on West Ham target Caleta-Car
According to a report from The Daily Mail, the Ligue 1 outfit are now demanding £15 million for the 25-year-old centre-back.
That represents a slight drop in the £17 million fee they wanted earlier this week according to Sky Sports News’ Transfer Show on Monday (24 January, 07:35pm).
Surely £15 million is very good value for the Croatian international and David Moyes shouldn’t hesitate to bring him to the London Stadium.
He would certainly be a big upgrade on Issa Diop.
Well-renowned football analysis and scouting website IBWM recently described Caleta-Car as an ‘exceptional talent’.
The 25-year-old is tall and commanding in the air and very comfortable with the ball at his feet as well. He is a very strong all-round defender and he would improve the Hammers’ back-line immeasurably.
With just three-and-a-half days remaining before the January transfer window slams shut, West Ham had better get some deals over the line soon. Or at least one!
And we think that signing Caleta-Car for just £15 million would be a very smart move from the Hammers.
