The 28-year-old was a huge hit with the Hammers last season.
He moved to the London Stadium on loan in January and went on to rack up nine goals and four assists in just 16 Premier League games for West Ham.
David Moyes absolutely loved Jesse. And it was clear to see that the Scot prioritised the permanent signing of the Man United ace as soon as last season ended.
It seemed as though Lingard could be set to stay at Manchester United this summer, however.

The 28-year-old wanted to stay and fight for his place at Old Trafford according to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, as quoted by Manchester United’s official website.
That all may have changed now though.
Manchester United to sell Lingard with West Ham lying in wait
The Daily Star reckon that the Red Devils have dropped their asking price for Jesse from £35 million down to £20 million.
If that is the case, West Ham will surely just pay it.

Lingard was so influential for the Hammers last season. £20 million seems like an absolute steal.
Moyes will surely now be pushing David Sullivan to make a deal for the 28-year-old happen.
The West Ham fans would love Jesse back at the London Stadium.
