Manchester United consider signing West Ham star Jarrod Bowen and instantly changing his position

West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen is a transfer target for Manchester United but not for the reasons one might initially expect.

Bowen, of course, has made his name in the Premier League as a devastating right winger, scoring 64 goals and registering 53 assists in 237 appearances.

Nuno wants to make YOU proud – so where do you think we finish in the table when all is said and done on Sunday?!

Though also capable of playing up front, the West Ham United star is far more recognised as a right-winger, cutting inside and shooting on his left foot.

Indeed, Bowen’s West Ham legacy has been built largely off that, but it seems the Old Trafford giants might have something else in mind for him.

Man United consider Bowen as a left-winger

According to The Guardian’s Jacob Steinberg, the Red Devils have considered a move for the 29-year-old as a potential left-winger.

He told United, United, United! “I was quite surprised when I heard the United interest thing. Some of the reaction online has been people saying, ‘But we seem like we’re sorted out on the right wing with [Bryan] Mbeumo and Amad Diallo’.

“And to be honest, that’s what I said when I heard it, but surprisingly, I was told that United were looking at him potentially as someone who could also slot in on the left side, where you may be a little bit weaker in terms of options. It’s really only Cunha who can play out there.”

Pretend you’re Nuno – what changes are you making ahead of Leeds? 👀

If anyone says keep the back five, I'll be shocked 😂

Bowen has been linked with leaving West Ham this summer if they are relegated from the Premier League, which is sadly looking likely.

There is clearly no guarantee he will leave and Bowen has deep roots here in east London, so the prospect of him staying even in the Championship could hardly be ruled out entirely.

Still, if Champions League clubs come in for him, West Ham would surely face quite the fight to keep their star man.

Bowen has only played on the left wing 11 times

Over the course of his career, only 11 of Bowen’s 402 club appearances have come on the left wing.

While not to say he cannot play there, signing him with a left-wing spot in mind would be somewhat strange.

Hammers News understands that West Ham want to keep Bowen even if they are relegated, although that is easier said than done.

The forward does not have a release clause in his contract, however, which could be significant when the transfer window opens.
