The main priority for David Moyes in the summer transfer window would have been to strengthen his central midfield ranks at the London Stadium, with Declan Rice having left to join Arsenal.

The Scot has already signed Edson Alvarez from Arsenal.

And now it seems like Ward-Prowse is West Ham bound as well…

Southampton manager confirms Ward-Prowse is leaving, West Ham medical done and deal announced in 48 hrs

Russel Martin addressed the media this afternoon.

And the Saints boss confirmed that the 28-year-old club captain is leaving the south coast outfit, when speaking to Hampshire Live:

“I think it’s a difficult one for Prowsey. I’ve been working with him for six weeks. I’ve been immensely impressed with him as a character and as a professional and as a person and as a player. We had a really good chat on Wednesday. He’s really emotional about leaving his club. Which shows how much he cares and how difficult it will be for him if it all goes through.”

Claret and Hugh have confirmed that the Southampton midfielder has passed his medical ahead of a move to West Ham, and the deal will be completed within the next 48 hours.

West Ham have agreed to pay £30 million to bring the 11-capped England international to the London Stadium this summer (Daily Mail).

Whilst that sounds like a lot of money for the 28-year-old, what he will bring to the Hammers starting XI will be invaluable.

He is a natural born leader and one of the very best around when it comes to his ability from set-pieces.

James Ward-Prowse will do very well at West Ham, I have no doubt in my mind about that.
