Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to sign West Ham United transfer target Piotr Zielinski from Napoli in January.

That’s according to a report from Italian journalist Rudy Galetti who claim that Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is keen to bring the 28-year-old midfield star to Anfield.

Liverpool’s interest in the 78-capped Poland international will obviously come as a big blow to West Ham.

The Napoli star is one of the best attacking midfielders in the game, and he would be a great signing for West Ham. Moyes ended up bringing Lucas Paqueta to West Ham in the summer instead, but he still has Zielinski on his radar (Gazzetta dello Sport).

With the Merseyside giants now allegedly in for the Polish midfielder, Moyes may well be fighting a losing battle ahead…

The attacking midfielder has been chased by the Hammers since the summer transfer window.

I think that the Pole would be a huge upgrade on Tomas Soucek. Having said that, I do feel as though David Moyes should be targeting a younger model.

Zielinki will be 29 in May after all.

In spite of that, and for the here and now, the 28-year-old is undoubtedly a huge talent. He has the kind of ability that would definitely take West Ham’s attacking play to another level.

And let’s face it, if Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp wants to sign him in January, he must have something special about him. Former Poland manager Paulo Sousa described the Napoli midfielder as ‘exceptional’ (The Guardian). Meanwhile, The Daily Star labelled him as ‘incredible’.

If West Ham and Liverpool both make a move to sign Zielinski in January, there will only be one winner in my opinion.

And missing out on the 28-year-old would be a big blow for the Hammers in my opinion.
