West Ham United have already signed two strikers during the January transfer window but they have been linked with another in the form of Jhon Duran.

Duran, of course, is a very interesting player indeed.

The Colombian international proved a major hit at Aston Villa but has since taken reasonably strange steps in his career.

If West Ham were to sign Jhon Duran in the summer…

Still only 22, he’s already played in Saudi Arabia and is now at Fenerbahce.

Duran wanted to join West Ham in 2025 and has recently been tipped as a target for the club, who remain active on Deadline Day.

Now, there has been a significant update in regard to his future amid all those links with West Ham.

Jhon Duran set to terminate his contract at Fenerbahce

Only a few days after West Ham were linked with a fresh move for Duran, it seems as if his time in the Turkish capital of Istanbul is coming to an end.

According to journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu, Duran is ready to terminate his contract with the Turkish giants.

There has been a further development in that the striker is also believed to have been removed from their squad to play Kocaelispor on Monday afternoon.

The forward has only made seven starts across all competitions this season, though that has yielded an impressive five goals thus far.

How much of the £40m that we spent on Max Kilman could we realistically get back?!

Jhon Duran is a risk that West Ham United cannot take

What Nuno Espirito Santo needs right now is certainty and reliability.

While West Ham’s January signings may not look quite as exciting as Duran on paper, they have brought with them a new way of playing.

Neither Taty Castellanos nor Pablo Felipe look as talented as Duran but they have helped West Ham develop a new formation, one that presses from the front.

Though not to say that Duran cannot do that, he is clearly much more of a maverick than the two relatively new faces.

Duran, for all his talent, looks like the ideal signing for a team looking to push up from midtable rather than one desperately trying to beat the drop.
