Luizao wants to join West Ham in January but there is a big problem pertaining to potential compensation that Sao Paulo could be due.
That’s according to a report from ESPN who claim that the Hammers have reached an impasse in our pursuit of the 20-year-old Brazilian centre-back.
That is because West Ham are allegedly refusing to pay Sao Paulo compensation for a player who is out of contract in January.
The East London outfit have apparently already agreed terms with Luizao.

It seems as though there is one big problem on the horizon for the Hammers though…
Luizao wants to join West Ham but there’s a really big problem
ESPN claims that the 20-year-old defender wants to join the Hammers in January.
He could be prevented from doing so though, with West Ham reluctant to pay Sao Paulo compensation.
If we don’t get Luizao, it will be a big shame. David Moyes desperately needs to bolster his central defensive ranks at the London Stadium.
And the 20-year-old South American would be a great addition for us in my opinion.
Luizao might be totally unproven in the Premier League and very rough around the edges, but signing him on a free transfer would negate the risks involved in the deal.

The 20-year-old is an aggressive young defender whose playing style is quintessentially South American, what with his tenacity and aggression.
He’s a very good tackler and is commanding in the air. It does seem as though Luizao has all of the attributes needed to succeed in England with West Ham.
He is obviously one very much for the future rather than the here and now though. The Brazilian is still very rough around the edges and he needs to really work on his passing and composure when in possession.
Luizao allegedly wants to join West Ham, so if Moyes really wants to get this one over the line, there will be no excuses.
The compensation due would be a nominal fee. So David Sullivan should just cough up the cash, if Moyes has made it clear that he wants Luizao.
