Phillips himself admitted he wants to leave Liverpool and is open to a move in January when questioned about West Ham’s interest by Sky Sports.
Well Liverpool may have just dropped a big clue that could clear the path for West Ham to make Phillips their first signing of the January transfer window.
According to the likes of The Daily Mail and Goal, Liverpool are recalling defender Rhys Williams from a loan spell at Swansea to pave the way for the sale of Phillips.
Other clubs are interested in the 24-year-old but Moyes is said to be close friends with the player’s dad.
“His return would pave the way for fellow-defender Nat Phillips to depart Anfield this month, with the 24-year-old attracting interest from a host of clubs…” The Daily Mail reports.
“The Reds instead want to receive a straight £15million sale in January, which they feel is a fair valuation.
“West Ham are reportedly long-term admirers of Phillips, yet David Moyes is said to be targeting a defender who can also provide cover at left-back this month.”
