The potential move for Onana has seriously excited West Ham fans this summer.

The Lille central midfielder threatens to be one of the most dominant forces in Europe in his position.

Standing at a towering 6ft 5in, the 20-year-old is already a full Belgium international.

West Ham were recently said to be ‘increasingly confident’ of signing Onana (The Evening Standard).

West Ham saw their first three bids for Onana rejected by Lille, the last of which was said to be for over £30m.

Football writer Paul Brown recently claimed Onana wants to leave Lille for West Ham. And he even went as far as to claim it is ‘only a matter of time’ before the transfer happens.

Onana has caught the eye of West Ham fans with his social media activity of late.

He recently posted a Conor McGregor meme with the word “patience” on it.

Regional outlet La Voix du Nord are reporting tonight that Lille are preparing for the departure of midfielder Onana.

Get French Football News are also carrying the claims and state that a deal is already agreed with the player.

“Having signed Onana for €8m from Hamburg, Lille would not stand in the player’s way should an offer meet their asking price, while the German club would also receive part of the fee via a sell-on clause inserted in last year’s sale,” La Voix du Nord and GFFN report.

“West Ham are said to have identified the defensive-minded midfielder as a successor for the now-retired Mark Noble, with everyone at the club convinced by the prospect of his signing.

“In his sole year in the north of France, Onana made 32 league appearances, scoring once, while also playing in every one of the team’s Champions League fixtures, in a run which ended in a knockouts defeat to Chelsea.”

Make no mistake bringing Onana to West Ham would be a true statement signing.

Let’s hope we can get it done.
