L’Equipe have just made a shock claim about West Ham United’s bid for talented Lorient striker Terem Moffi.

It was claimed by Sky Sports last night that the Hammers have submitted a bid for the 23-year-old worth £20 million up front and including £5 million in add-ons.

However, all may not be as it appears.

Michail Antonio has regressed badly and Gianluca Scamacca is crying out for some proper competition.

Moffi would be ideal, but it seems as though there’s some bad news for the Hammers fans…

West Ham Terem Moffi bid ‘not real’

L’Equipe claim that the supposed bid for Moffi submitted by the Hammers isn’t real!

Well, I certainly wouldn’t put it past David Sullivan to have thrown in a cheeky ‘phantom bid’ and leaked it to his contacts in the media.

Really though, if he’s done that, it’s little wonder why we’re struggling. David Moyes clearly wants to sign the Nigerian – he possesses all of the attributes that the Scot usually looks for.

Described by Total Football Analysis as a ‘nuisance’ Moffi is exactly what we need at the London Stadium, and he would be the perfect foil for Gianluca Scamacca.

Moffi would take West Ham’s attacking play to a whole new level entirely.

He’s been on fire in Ligue 1 this season, with 12 goals in 18 games for Lorient to his name (Transfermarkt).

If we manage to sign Moffi for an initial £20 million, it will be great business from the Hammers.

As things stand though, it seems as though the West Ham bid for Terem Moffi may not even be real! We will soon see which publication have their information correct won’t we…
