Leeds United have dropped a major hint that a West Ham deal for Crysencio Summerville is done with a move for a star as his replacement.

West Ham’s interest in Leeds United star Crysencio Summerville is nothing new.

But West Ham’s prospects of signing Leeds’ Holland Under 21 star looked bleak given reported interest from the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.

Those hopes looked even more remote when it emerged the Hammers had bid just £20m for the 22-year-old winger – some £15-20m below Leeds’ reported asking price.

So it was a bolt from the blue earlier today when news emerged that West Ham were in ‘advanced talks’ with Leeds for Summerville.

Sky Sports have since claimed a fee and payment structure has been agreed.

Leeds drop major hint West Ham deal for Summerville is done

But West Ham fans have been here too many times before.

Scarred by a number of deal collapses this summer alone, Hammers fans have been reluctant to get too excited about the prospect of Leeds’ best player moving to the London Stadium.

Indeed not just Leeds’ best player but the best player in the entire Championship last season.

New West Ham head coach Julen Lopetegui is planning to use Lucas Paqueta and Mohammed Kudus in their preferred central roles next season.

That is why technical director Tim Steidten has been hunting a new left-sided attacker.

Outside of the Premier League’s top six, they don’t come much better than Summerville.

Now it seems this deal could genuinely have legs.

Whites make move for Summerville replacement

Because Leeds have dropped a major hint that a West Ham deal for Summerville is done with a move for a star as his replacement.

The likes of Give Me Sport claim Leeds have made a bid for ex Liverpool and Rangers winger Ryan Kent.

The Whites seem to have been perennially linked with a move for Kent but have previously missed out.

Kent allegedly chose to move to Turkey with Fenerbahce over signing for Leeds in the Championship last summer.

But he is not in new manager Jose Mourinho’s plans and Leeds have held talks with Fener about a £2.5m deal for the 26-year-old.

Leeds fans may be rather underwhelmed by the potential replacement.

But it is a sure sign Leeds do not foresee any hitches in Summerville signing for West Ham.

Last week Hammers News suggested West Ham had the perfect answer in persuading Leeds to sell Summerville to them right under their noses.

Leeds would be better off with West Ham’s Cornet

Summerville’s impending arrival at West Ham would surely spell the end for £17.5m flop Maxwel Cornet.

The Ivorian has barely featured during his two seasons with the club.

And his performances in pre-season for West Ham have been woeful.

Indeed even behind-the-scenes training footage has showed his lack of quality and confidence.

There is no suggestion Cornet will be included in any deal.

But Leeds could do a lot worse than getting Cornet in on loan for a season with an option to buy.

With game time and some restored confidence, he could be electric in the Championship.

The Hammers flop would surely be a better option than Kent?
