West Ham United head coach Julen Lopetegui apparently has a very exciting striker plan up his sleeve.
The Hammers are expected to be extremely competitive on all fronts this season under the leadership of Julen Lopetegui.
However, in order for us to make some real progress, the West Ham head coach must ensure that he strengthens his centre-forward ranks.
The 57-year-old is said to be prioritising the addition of a new striker this summer, as he looks to add to the three new signings he’s made already at the London Stadium.
Aston Villa hitman Jhon Duran is believed to be Lopetegui’s prime target, but the Spaniard is clearly casting his net far and wide.
Duran’s agent has admitted that West Ham want to sign his client, but it makes sense to have alternative transfer targets lined up.
And one name in particular keeps cropping up…
Julen Lopetegui wants to bring £38m striker to West Ham
The Spaniard absolutely has to get the centre-forward signing 100% spot on this summer, if he really is to take us on to the next level.
As good as Michail Antonio has been for us over the past nine years, the Hammers urgently need to make a big upgrade on the Jamaica international.

The 34-year-old can still be used as an impact sub, but he certainly shouldn’t be our number one starter this season.
And now, Lopetegui has a hugely exciting striker lined up to come into West Ham and pick up the baton from Antonio this summer.
According to club insiders Claret and Hugh, Villarreal striker Alexander Sorloth is a key target for the Hammers this summer.
The 28-year-old forward has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium already this summer, with around £25 million needed to sign him.
However, other reports have claimed that he’ll cost as much as £38 million (Caught Offside).
I think Sorloth would be a really strong addition to Lopetegui’s ranks.
The Norwegian has scored 131 goals in 368 career games. Last season for Villarreal, he bagged an impressive 26 goals and six assists in 41 games, with 23 of those coming in La Liga.
Standing at 6ft 5in tall, Sorloth is always a real handful for opposing centre-backs.
The former Crystal Palace striker is incredibly strong in the air, obviously, possesses decent pace and he is an elite finisher.
Julen Lopetegui cannot allow the summer transfer window to pass without bringing a top-class striker to West Ham.
Whilst Duran may be his main target, Sorloth is not a bad back up option whatsoever. I’d take him at the London Stadium all day long.
