West Ham United now know exactly how much is needed to bring a top-class striker back to the Premier League this summer.

Julen Lopetegui surely knows the importance of bringing an elite, proven goalscorer to West Ham in the summer transfer window.

The Spaniard has begun his Hammers tenure in fine style with the signings of Luis Guilherme, Wes Foderingham and Max Kilman.

Next up on the agenda is a move to sign a high quality striker, with an upgrade required on Michail Antonio urgently.

West Ham need someone who is capable of scoring 20 goals a season, and he needs to be a forward who’s good in the air and is willing to run the channels.

Those kind of forwards are obviously not easy to find, certainly not for under £50/60 million! However, the Hammers now have a good chance to bring someone to the club who possesses all of those qualities for a real bargain fee.

West Ham handed great chance to sign Alexander Sorloth

The 28-year-old centre-forward first emerged as a transfer target for the Hammers only yesterday.

Sorloth was on fire out in Spain for Villarreal last season, and he’d be an exceptional addition for us.

The former Crystal Palace striker was thought to be valued at around £32 million, but now there’s some very good news indeed for West Ham.

According to a report from AS, Villarreal could now sell the big Norwegian for just £25 million – a fee that may well appeal to the Hammers.

Sorloth scored 131 goals in 368 career games. Last season for Villarreal, he bagged an impressive 26 goals and six assists in 41 games.

Standing at 6ft 5in tall, the 53-capped Norway international is always a real handful for opposing centre-backs.

The former Crystal Palace striker is incredibly strong in the air, obviously, possesses decent pace and he is an elite finisher.

On paper, he’s the absolute perfect striker for the Hammers, and more specifically Julen Lopetegui’s system.

If Alexander Sorloth really is available for £25 million this summer, West Ham cannot afford to miss out on him as far as I’m concerned.
