Fabrizio Romano has made a bold and confident claim about West Ham United’s pursuit of Max Kilman.
Max Kilman appears to be West Ham bound, after it emerged yesterday that the Hammers had lodged a £40 million bid for the 27-year-old.
Julen Lopetegui is believed to have pushed for the signing of Kilman since he took over at the London Stadium.
And Fabrizio Romano has now weighed into proceedings with his own information on the story.
The Italian journalist is widely respected in the game, and works day and night throughout the transfer window to keep fans updated in the world of football transfers.
Romano rarely gets things wrong, although he did recently poke fun at West Ham by suggesting that he’s hesitant to confirm West Ham deals until he sees the player in question holding up the shirt!

Along with the likes of David Ornstein and Mike McGrath, Fab is most fans’ go-to football journalist, when is comes to transfer news.
He has forged an immaculate reputation over the years, helped by numerous top-level contacts in very high places.
Now though, he has risked damaging his reputation with a new claim about one specific Hammers transfer…
Fabrizio Romano risks reputation with Max Kilman to West Ham claim
Kilman is seemingly closing in on his summer switch from Molineux to the London Stadium.
If we manage to get a deal done for the 27-year-old centre-back, he’ll be a superb addition to Lopetegui’s ranks.
As we all know though, at West Ham nothing can be taken for granted until the deal is finalised, and the player in question has signed on the dotted line after completing his medical.
Now Fabrizio Romano has put his reputation on the line with a bold new claim on his official X account.
However, he did use a very important five-word caveat at the end of his tweet!
It’s brave of the Italian journalist to give the Kilman to West Ham his famous ‘Here we go’ stamp of authority.
He’s been caught out with it before, when he did the same concerning the Hammers’ move to sign Brazilian centre-back Fabricio Bruno, only for the deal to collapse at the final hurdle.
The fact that Fabrizio Romano has gone again with his famous ‘Here we go’ for the Max Kilman to West Ham deal makes me believe that the transfer is as good as done.
However, in fairness to the Italian, he did caveat his tweet with the very important five words ‘if all goes to plan’.
I’m not sure I’ve noticed Fab use those words on his other ‘Here We Go’ posts! Maybe it’s just West Ham. He was burned by the Fabricio Bruno deal collapsing before, so he’s probably just playing it safe with the Hammers now.
And in all fairness, I really don’t blame him!
