A senior journalist says he knows David Moyes’s four January targets at West Ham and makes Daniel Kretinsky claim ahead of the window opening.
As reported by Hammers News yesterday afternoon, Moyes has vowed to sign players in the January window after seeing his squad start to get stretched with a hectic winter schedule looming.
After West Ham’s phenomenal start to the season, during which Moyes made the fewest changes of any manager across Europe’s top five leagues, the Hammers squad has started to be tested.
West Ham have seriously missed leader Angelo Ogbonna after losing the Italian for the season to an ACL injury.
West Ham’s desperate need for another striker was laid bare again at the weekend.
Consecutive narrow defeats to Man City and Wolves have highlighted how the Hammers have faltered with Moyes bemoaning his side’s profligacy of late.
It is widely expected that West Ham will look to sign an alternative to Michail Antonio and perhaps Ogbonna too when January comes around.
Moyes usually plays his cards close to his chest over transfers.
But football journalist Darren Lewis – The Mirror’s assistant editor – has claimed to know the Scot’s four January transfer targets at West Ham.

And Lewis also claims Moyes has the backing of new Czech investor Daniel Kretinsky to get them.
Speaking in his report for The Mirror, Lewis claims Moyes’s four prime targets next month are Man United bench-warmer Jesse Lingard, Burnley contract rebel James Tarkowski, Basel striker Arthur Cabral and young Danish forward Jonas Wind.
“The Hammers boss celebrates two years in charge next month, having transformed the club from relegation strugglers to top-four contenders,” Lewis said in The Mirror.
“He is now expected to move in January for Manchester United forward Jesse Lingard and Burnley centre-back James Tarkowski with the Irons still in Europe and competing for a place in the Carabao Cup semi-finals…
“The Scot insisted he would maintain his careful approach to recruitment to ensure any new signings buy into the hard-working mentality of his current squad…
“Moyes is adamant his squad needs a fresh injection of quality and West Ham are ready to target red hot FC Basel marksman Arthur Cabral….
“Moyes has also been tracking 22-year-old FC Copenhagen frontman Jonas Wind. The 6ft 3in Dane is rated at £11.5million and has scored 11 times for this season after 20 goals for club and country last season.
“Backed by new Czech investor Daniel Kretinsky, there is a belief that the east Londoners will add the depth to ensure their promising first half of the season does not fizzle out.”
Lewis’s claims tally up as all four players have been heavily linked with West Ham of late – as extensively covered previously on Hammers News.
