Journalist claims Nikola Milenkovic to West Ham is almost a done deal

West Ham United have almost sealed a deal to sign Serie A defender Nikola Milenkovic.

That’s according to football journalist Pedro Almeida.

West Ham have been heavily linked with a move for Fiorentina contract rebel Milenkovic.

The Serbian defender, who has been labelled the new Nemanja Vidic, is out of contract at La Viola next summer and has been linked with West Ham since last year.

West Ham’s bitter rivals Spurs and the likes of Juventus have also been linked with Milenkovic.

But the Hammers are leading Tottenham in the race for the 23-year-old according to a recent report from The Express.

With the new Premier League season just over a week away, speculation has intensified over West Ham transfers.

But so far only goalkeeper Alphonse Areola has arrived.

David Moyes has made it clear he will not sign players for the sake of it or have signings forced on him.

And it looks as though the Scot could finally be about to land one of his prime targets.

That’s if an update from football journalist Almeida is anything to go by today.

“Nikola Milenkovic is almost done to join West Ham from Fiorentina for around 15M€ (£12.75m) with adds on,” Almeida said on Twitter.

“The Italian team has even sign replacement for the player, Matija Nastasic from Schalke.”

It is hugely exciting news for West Ham fans.

But supporters may want to hold off on celebrating Milenkovic’s arrival just yet.

That’s because Almeida reported West Ham had prepared an offer of around £20m plus add ons for Matheus Pereira.

That saga went on for some weeks with the West Brom playmaker now looking set for a lucrative move to Saudi side Al Hilal instead.
