West Ham United’s hopes of signing an elite left-back this summer rest firmly on the shoulders of Jose Mourinho.
Fenerbahce boss Jose Mourinho is said to hold the key to West Ham United’s plan to bring a top-class left-back to the London Stadium in the summer transfer window.
Hammers boss Julen Lopetegui is believed to be on the hunt for at least four more new signings before the transfer window slams shut.
Luis Guilherme and Wes Foderingham have already arrived at West Ham this summer, so the Spaniard is said to be chasing six signings.
I think we need eight as a bare minimum.
After Guilherme and Foderingham, Lopetegui needs to add a striker, a centre-forward, a defensive midfielder, a left-back, a right-back and a left winger to his ranks.
I actually think the need for two full-backs is being somewhat underplayed.
Especially on the left side of defence, with Emerson Palmieri being heavily linked with a return to Italy with Roma.
One left-back name the Hammers have been linked with this summer is particularly exciting, and one man has our hopes of signing him in his hands…
Jose Mourinho to have final say on West Ham signing left-back
The Hammers need a technically gifted left-back to come into the club and either add some proper competition and cover for Emerson, or replace him.
Lopetegui is well-known for liking his teams to pass out from the back, and build up play up the pitch methodically.

In order to do that, he needs to sign a few more defenders who are actually comfortable with the ball at his feet.
And there is one man in particular out there who would take us to a whole new level in regards to playing out from the back.
Ferdi Kadioglu is someone who the Hammers have made attempts to sign already this summer.
And now according to a report from Fotomac, Jose Mourinho will decide which club Kadioglu joins before the start of the new season.
The likes of Arsenal, Bayern Munich, AC Milan and Napoli have all been credited with interest in signing him.
So we certainly won’t have things all our own way in the race for Kadioglu.
Fotospor claim that the Turkey international will be available for around £25 million this summer – decent value in this day and age.
He bagged three goals and five assists in 51 games for Fenerbahce last season. In 37 Super Lig outings, he averaged two tackles and 1.6 clearances per match. During those appearances, he made 53.9 passes per game on average and recorded a completion rate of 84.8% (Who Scored).
Kadıoglu possesses truly unbelievable technical ability, and is really press resistant.
Football scouting and analysis site Emir Scouting have labelled the 15-cap Turkey international as ‘outrageously amazing’, and they’re spot on.
He’s a joy to watch when he plays.
Not only would he provide proper competition and cover for Emerson Palmieri, but he’d also offer us a completely different way of playing due to his ability to invert and exemplary technique.
Let’s just hope that Jose Mourinho green lights the Kadioglu to West Ham transfer this summer, because he would take us to another level entirely.
