Insider claims Lingard has been telling West Ham teammates what everyone wants to hear

“He has expressed to his teammates he wants to stay. I don’t know if you’ve seen but he’s posting a lot on Instagram with his daughter and family members in West Ham kits and singing and things.

“I think he does want to stay. It’s going to depend on how much Man United want us to buy him for considering he’s got a year left on his contract and also what the competition is going to be (from other clubs).

“But I know he’s loved his time at West Ham and it’s very clear for all to see. I think the plan is both for West Ham and for Lingard to try and get him here for next season.

‘People ruling it out are wrong, there’s still a chance’

“A lot of media outlets are ruling it out and saying ‘no chance’ but I think there is more chance than they’re saying…

“I can’t say for certain it’s going to happen because anything could happen in this time… People ruling out that signing are wrong. There’s still a chance.”

Nine goals, four assists and several ‘pre-assists’ – a key pass, action or moment of skill that creates the opportunity for a goal – tells you everything about Lingard’s 16 games at West Ham.

Attentions will now firmly be on whether West Ham can strike a deal with Man United to keep Lingard at the club for what promises to be an exciting Europa League adventure next season.
