West Ham are allegedly keen to sign Lucas Digne from Everton before the January transfer window slams shut.
The Daily Mail have claimed that the Hammers are trying to sign the 28-year-old Everton left-back this month.
Club insiders Claret and Hugh have poured cold water on talks of a a deal for West Ham to sign the 43-capped France international though.
Digne would be an exceptional addition for the Hammers.
He’d be the ideal long-term replacement for Aaron Cresswell.
Digne has all of the attributes needed to succeed as a top-class full-back in the modern game. He was recently described as an ‘incredible’ left-back by the Liverpool Echo.
The 28-year-old is great going forward and possesses an exceptional delivery. He’s a very solid defender as well with impressive pace. It seems as though the West Ham fans may well have been getting their hopes up too soon though…
West Ham insider drops January transfer window Digne update
There Frenchman is asking for at least £100k-a-week and Everton are demanding a hefty fee for him.
Claret and Hugh reckons that those demands could rule the Hammers out of the running for the 28-year-old’s signature.
They do suggest that we could make a move to sign Digne late on in the window, however, should Chelsea or Newcastle fail to get a deal done for the Everton ace.
Oh well…that seems to be that.
We should know by now not to get too excited about potential new incomings at West Ham.
The club’s owners just don’t seem to work fast enough to make the right signings happen. We’ve still got to be patient of course and reserve judgement until after the transfer window closes.
David Moyes absolutely has to bring a top-class left-back to the London Stadium at some point over the next 12 months or so.
Digne would have been the ideal addition.
It seems as though the Hammers owners don’t have the foresight needed to make this one happen though…
