James Ward-Prowse looks set to remain in limbo at West Ham United for a little while longer.
Ward-Prowse has made only six appearances this season and not a single one has come since September.
To make matters all the more frustrating for the former Southampton midfielder, Nuno Espirito Santo has confirmed that West Ham are open to selling Ward-Prowse.
In the age of set-pieces, why aren’t West Ham making more of James Ward-Prowse?! 👀
That, in theory, should offer him the chance to move on and find a club who will be able to offer him first-team minutes.
Still, despite Ward-Prowse’s links with Everton, he remains frozen out in east London with little sign of reprieve.
That looks set to continue for now.
Nuno’s vague update on James Ward-Prowse
Indeed, Nuno was asked about the former England international in his pre-match press conference before Saturday’s trip to Tottenham in the Premier League.
In a rather vague response, Nuno said: “We are working on ins and outs. We are working on ins and outs.
“I feel that we need to rebalance our squad, bring more options to some positions and also find the best solutions for the players that are not having minutes to go and proceed their careers.”
That hardly clears things up for any of the parties involved.
Be honest; how would YOU feel if West Ham swapped Nuno for Thomas Frank?
The Spurs boss has come in for huge criticism…
West Ham aren’t helping themselves with James Ward-Prowse
West Ham paid around £30million to sign Ward-Prowse in the summer of 2023 and the idea of them getting anything close to that were they to sell him feels remote at best.
However, to have let the situation develop like this has done little to put any value on him at all.

It’s difficult to gauge what kind of money he’d attract in the market these days. The player’s value must have tanked in recent seasons, which includes his loan spell at Nottingham Forest.
That was perhaps the time when West Ham were trying to raise his market value but Nuno put paid to that during his time at the City Ground.
Despite it being painfully obvious that Ward-Prowse is surplus to requirements at West Ham, he remains in limbo.
That is not helpful for anyone involved whatsoever.
